Happy New Year to you all, I hope that you had the most wonderful night, whether you were partying away in the local pub/club, slumping it up or …. tbh what else is there haha.
Last year my new years resolution was to have more glitter in my life, and I truly think that I succeeded. So, this year I’m taking the bull by the horns and going one step further where I will blog at least once a week. Fingers crossed!!
Anyway back to this post. I first did this 40 beauty question tag post 4 years ago and for some reason this blog post has become popular again, and I thought I would do it again as of course tastes change. I have changed some questions as makeup has changed in for years, so here we go:
How many times do you wash your face daily?
I guess it depends on the situation. I definitely wash it at least once a day due to removing my makeup. I use face cloths and wipes. If I’m feeling tired the n of course more.
What skin type do you have? (Oily, dry, combo etc)
I have combination skin but mainly oily, which is an absolute pain in the neck. It can go through rough patches, but hey that’s life. The worst area of my skin is definitely my neck, this is due to my pcos and has definitely got worse over the years.
What is your current facial wash?
I mean, does Garnier Micellar water count? Otherwise I don’t use any facial wash. To be honest I should look after my skin more lol
Do you exfoliate?
Yes I am definitely getting better at it. I mean I’m only using a lovely Primark exfoliator brush at the moment, but I’m working my way up lol.
What brand do you use?
I use St Ives apricot, or any cheap apricot brand really. I’m not too fussed.
What moisturiser do you use?
I use Palmers cocoa butter, as I bloody love the smell or a lovely product I got in a monthly box (don’t remember which one) the Mixa body restoring lotion.
Do you have any freckles?
Yes I do. They absolutely come out in the sun, especially around my nose and shoulders.
Do you use any eye cream?
Simply put, nope.
Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
I still “suffer” from acne, I get quite a lot of spots still aged 28. However I have learnt to cope with. I also unfortunately also get quite a lot of ingrown hairs due to pcos.
Did you ever have to use pro-active?
I stillborn know what this is. I mean all I’m thinking about is butter, and I don’t really like butter.
Where do you buy your makeup usually?
To be honest usually Superdrug or online. Online stores could be TamBeauty, where you can get Freedom and Makeup Revolution. I don’t particularly so from makeup counters as they can be intimidating.
Did you know how to check when your make up expires, and do you chuck it out?
Yes I do, the little symbols on the packaging, however I don’t often chuck it out. I know naughty me, I do try but sometimes they’re so pretty.
Sephora or MAC?
I am not one to buy top make up brand as you can see above lol. I have never owned any product from these two brands.
What makeup tools do to use in your application?
Lol this is where I will look foolish as I don’t particularly pay attention to which type of brush should be used for a particular type of makeup. So, lol I use a brush (small and medium) for foundation and colour corrector, a larger brush for powder and another brush for bronzer. Lol I’m so technical.
Have you ever considered taking makeup classes?
Yes and no. I live trying to copy ideas from photos, whether that is Instagram of Pinterest. I love it when I receive compliments about my makeup though.
Name a makeup crime you hate
For me personally it’s too much highlighter. I love a bit of highlighter but when you reflect sun off you’re face it’s gone too far.
What I also I’m finding difficult to like are girls, especially young teenagers who are being influenced heavily by online makeup artists or celebrities and they all look the same.
When I was a teenager, I want interested in makeup to be honest a lot of girls of my generation were not that interested and the makeup was bare minimum. Sometimes nowadays I cannot tell a girls age.
Do you like colourful shades of makeup?
- Lips – nude, pinks or berries
- Eyeshadow – day is nude or gold. Night – nude, gold, something with a shot of colours
Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?
Yes. I don’t think I would go to work, but I’d nip down the local shops.
Do you think you look good without makeup?
Haha depends if I don’t have any spots and my hair looks ok, then I don’t mind.
In your opinion what is the best make up brand?
Can I have two or three or four lol?? Ok ok, if i was to choose I would say MUA makeup academy. Their range is amazing, from coverage, eyeshadow, lips, to colour corrector they have it all.
What is your favourite eyeshadow palette?
This one is easy, if has to be MUA cosmetic Burning Embers. The colours are amazing and the pigmentation is brilliant. I love love love the golden shades, and the fact that they are matte is a bonus!!
What do you think of fake eyelashes?
I used to absolutely love them for a night out, but I haven’t used them in ages. I love it when girls have confidence to wear them daily, is like go you!!
What primer do you use for your eyes?
What brand of mascara do you use?
I had tried do many over the years and I am always coming back to Maybelline Colossal Cats Eyes/Colossal volume express. They are without a doubt my favourites, I have blogged about them so many times I cannot give it another review lol. If you are looking for a new mascara, please please please buy one of these product.
Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
I use liquid eyeliner. Recently received an amazing one in a monthly box called Precision Tip Liner by Steve Laurent. Is amazing and does simply what it says on the tin, it is precise lol
How often do you like your eye or smudge it?
The amount of times is unreal lol. Does anyone else sneeze or smudge it at the last very moment so bloody annoying haha.
What do you think of pigmented eyeshadow?
Surely all eyeshadows should be pigmented strongly lol, otherwise what is the point in wearing them. If I’m going to wear bright colours, I don’t want to be sat there applying loads of layers and then making myself look cagey.
What do you think about the pressure or hype around having the perfect eyebrow?
I don’t think that there should be any pressure for anyone to have a particular something. However, I do think people have become obsessed with their eyebrows. Some people absolutely need to put down the pencil/ brush, as they’re so over drawn or square. I think as long as they look natural that’s fine.
What is your favourite lipstick?
Without a doubt, it is the So Susan Cosmetics Colour Hybrid. It is a beautiful shade and of course the packaging is amazing. The pigmentation is very strong with a red shade but with pink running throughout. To see what it looks like on me check out my Instagram post.
How about lip gloss?
I’m not one for lip gloss, however I do love a liquid lipstick. To see my favourites check out this post.
Matte, liquid, gloss – which do you prefer?
If you would have asked me this question at the start of 2017, I would have definitely said matte. However now it is absolutely liquid lipstick. I love the idea that it is slightly moisturizing, is effective with thd matte and most of the ones I’ve tried have lasted all day. Love them. My ultimate faves have been the Primark liquid lipstick, have a read my review.
What do you think of celebrity branded lipsticks?
For me personally I wouldn’t but any, especially any from a member of the Kardashians as you’re only buying for the brand, when there are so many cheaper products out there that are dupes. Go and have a look around, you’ll be amazed.
What primer do you use for your face?
This is the only product that I like from Benefit and that is the POREfessional face primer. It’s not too heavy, gives great coverage and lasts all day.
Do you use mineral makeup?
I used to but I haven’t found any that have caught my attention lately. If you know any, comment below.
What foundation do you use?
How about concealer?
If I want a quick fix I will choose my Poundland option, provides great coverage and hey it’s only £1. Alternatively if I want to spend some time on my make up I’ll use Maybelline Dream Bright.
To be honest, I use Freedom Makeup colour corrector pots more, I find these little pots super easy to apply, great coverage and an amazing price. They come in all colours however I have picked out the CF02 pot (the beige one) for reference.
Do you contour, if so what do you use?
I try, lol… If I’m doing my day make up i will just simply use bronzed asbo don’t often have enough time and/or I’m not awake lol. Otherwise I will use Freedom Makeup’s Pro Contour Shape Stick. It’s a great little cream product that allows you to be precise and gives great coverage. On top of that you also have a highlighter stick on the other end to help with the lighting of your face.
What’s your favourite blusher?
I don’t particularly have a fave, whichever one is closest on my desk lol
What’s your favourite type of highlighter (if you use it)?
Yet again I’m going to say MUA makeup academy iridescent gold. For me i prefer powder to liquid forms, therefore this why it’s my fave, not only because it’s just absolutely beautiful!!! They have so many other options too, go take a look.
Why do you like makeup?
To me makeup gives me self confidence, a boost, a creative outlook and it calms me down. Much like if you were any artist.
Some people don’t wear makeup and I think that’s fantastic too, if we all were the same it’d be boring.
Whether you’re painting on a bold red lipstick, covering your eyelids in glitter or drawing on your eyebrows, you are painting a picture. Your eyebrows are the frame and if you start from there, you can build so much character.
With makeup you can be scary, old, young, a different gender, a beauty queen or an enhanced version of your fabulous self.
That’s why I love makeup, that’s why I like creating new looks and that’s why I take selfies of these looks because I am proud.
These are my fave looks from last year. Hopefully by the end of 2018, I will have advanced further.
I would live to read your posts, so don’t forget to tag me!!!
So, here is to 2018 and as always remember to:
