Maybelline colossal spider effect mascara review

If you have been following my blog for some time, you will know that my absolute favourite mascara ever is the Maybelline Colossal Volume Express – Cats eyes. It stays all day, hardly ever smudges, the wand is fantastic and gets every single lash and it’s so affordable.

However, Maybelline have lovingly discontinued it. Do they not know how much I love this product? I have tried to find it before it was completely gone and it’s no longer possible. I therefore had to look for an alternative, and god I have looked.

I definitely do prefer the Maybelline Colossal selection, as I feel that they make my eyelashes stand out so much! Then I came across this beauty, the Maybelline Spider effect.

Here is the beauty that is my new mascara. It is a very different wand to the cats eye, where it is flat at the back, with the spikes at the top of the wand. Ranging from shorter to longer to get all of those little lashes. The wand is also bigger than the cats eyes

As you can see you do miss out on the curvature of the cats eye wand, however the bristles at the front of the spider effect make up for it.

The pigmentation of the mascara is very black and I hope that luckily they sell a waterproof version soon. It is thick and I was concerned that I was going to end up with bloody 00s girl mascara eyes, you know…

Especially with a name such as spider mascara I definitely didn’t want the above happening.

But luckily, it didn’t and ended up with this:

Woohoo!!! It’s so close to the cats eye mascara that I am super happy. My lashes are extra long, very black and brilliant for the price.

So if like me you are disappointed that Maybelline have stopped doing your fave mascara, then please give this a go!!

Give it a go.

It’s pretty 💜💛
