First of all, have some flowers – everyone loves flowers, if you don’t whats wrong with you – do you want some chocolate instead? Anyway, I keep buying myself flowers at the moment as no one else is gonna, so whats a girl gotta do – look after numero uno. This weekend is the weekend to celebrate Father’s all around the world, whether you are lucky to still have your Dad or your Dad is in heaven or even if you have never know your Dad, there’s always a Father figure in your life – they deserve to be thanked. Although ideally we should be thanking them every day of the year but Hallmark have decided to have the 1 day. So this weekend, my house has celebrated by having a BBQ and then today I went shopping with my Dad. I thought I would take you through my weekend.
Do you know what makes me happy………. MAKE UP THAT COMES IN THE POST!!!! yep it’s that time again where I have been on a make up haul and this time it is the lovely MUA. Last time I had a haul from them I had a disappointing discovery that my BB cream had split in the packaging, so I was very worried about what I may discover this time. But I was pleasantly pleased 🙂 yay! go them. Let’s see what I bought 🙂
Hello!!! Wow it seems that I had a mini break of blogging which is kinda what did happen. As you know I don’t blog on a Thursday but I was still tweeting away – twitter.com/loveyouandthem if you aren’t following by the way (I always follow back) anyway, I was pondering back and forth (oh how very British of me!) to think as to what I should post about next, I have now a few ideas – thank you for all the suggestions. I therefore have decided to post about the eye shadow make up pallets that I have in my bedroom. If you are a follower of my blog you know that I witter away and just write whatever I think, I don’t plan and I don’t think before I write.
My first review is the of NYX The All I’ve Ever Wanted Box, it contains what is shown above, the price was quite cheap at the time around about a £10 and I think it was absolutely worthwhile as I am about to show you:
As you can see it comes in a wide range of bright colours which I absolutely love, then of course the nice day and natural colours which you need for everyday useage. It has a small mirror at the top of the compact/pallet which is handy but I prefer to use my own, as I am quite clumsy. This particular section draws back to reveal the lower level:
This is what is shown, a lower level of blushers, bronzers, highlighters and lip glosses along with application tools. Beautiful colours again as you can see and they suit all skin shades.
Bronzers / Highlighters
How beautiful are these colours, they really help highlight and make your skin more alive! They come in all different shades and colours alongside contrasting each other at the same time.
Personally I have not used these two a lot, but they give a lovely shading to your skin when applied – not too dusty/mineral and when you completely understand contouring (which I still don’t) I am sure it would be amazing.
The lipglosses, now when you get a batch of cheap looking lipglosses and let’s be honest they do look cheap you do think – great they’re gonna be amazing. It’s never nice to see lipglosses put next to powered make up such as the ones shown above, I have done some swatches so you can see how “strong” they actually are:
Overall I do like this compact and it is great for like I said any time of day – I do keep forgetting I have it which now I have reviewed it I will be using again.
The next is ELF natural eyeshadow, which can be found here — shimmer my eyes wink wink — it’s currently on ale for £6.95 and usually £9.00. So please have a look 🙂
These are the shades it comes in, I admit that the shades are so so so similar to each one of them and that’s probably the only fault with this pallet. If you buy the correct applicator as the tools that come with this do not often pick up the shade to apply to your beautiful eyes. Great for the natural work days and if you just want to highlight your lovely eyes too!
Whilst I was buying the above, I thought sod it and I bought the colour brights pallet too which I love. The colours are what is says on the tin – bright! Again like I said this is currently on offer at the moment so go have a look! :
Here are the beautiful shades, there are still some of the natural shades which were in the above pallet but the pinks and blues are amazing along with the green for those spring/summer nights! There is the cheap applicator that comes with it – buy another one I promise you it’s worth it, it’s very cheap.
I believe that I got this for a Christmas present from my Aunt and I apologise about the beaut that is my phone lol but there was no other way to take this photo. Whenever someone buys you make up you are always a bit wary to open it up, but I was surprised – I loved it.
The shaes of blue are beautiful in this – as well as the highlighting white. I am unsure of the price as I said it was a present. The shades range from white, silver, silvery blue and grey. Beautiful for a night out and especially those which eyes contrast this colour. it comes with as you can see a mirror and applicator which again I chucked out as they’re really not great at all.
I picked this up in NEXT and I just love these shades. I like to wear these shades particularly for work as I feel that I cannot wear the make up that I actually want to wear at work so this will have to do. I think it was roughly below £5.
My weakest pallet I believe that I ever had bought and look where its from as well. Ignore the face!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway I thought you know what I will try something different and I have but to be honest it’s not really my thing:
It of course comes with a lovely compact mirror but the shades are just not me. The photo does not show clearly enough but these are full of glitter and it’s too glittery for me and the shadows are as well quite loose. Not for me.
Finally as you can see my most used possession of make up, I love this product and it gives amazing coverage, the colours are beautiful and its great for shading, highlighting and of course bringing out the colours of your eyes – plus it was cheap too!
Haha I have tried to tidy this up as much as I could for the photo but alas I could not (god again with my Britishness, what is with that tonight!).
So there you have it, another long post – I apologise (sorry not sorry) and there are all my eyeshadow pallets. I hope that you enjoyed this………. 🙂
I found this tag on the lovely blog of – http://angelssecretsx.blogspot.co.uk/ in which I highly recommend that you check out ladies and I am sure there are gents too!
I am feeling a bit bored and to be honest a bit lonely and feeling very single, so what’s the best thing to do than a quiz about things I love:
How many times do you wash your face daily?
It depends how I feel whether it is once or twice, it’s normally once to take away all of the make up etc and the gunk from the day and to also make you feel refreshed. If I am feeling extra sleepy it’s definitely two.
What skin type do you have? (dry, oily, combo)
Hmm, I have combination skin. My “nasal” area (what a horrid word) is oily and some of my cheeks but my forehead is dry. My neck due to PCOS is just bumpy. I hate my neck lol
What is your current facial wash?
I use different Clearasil products, or just Simple soap wash.
Do you exfoliate?
Yes but every two days, but I really don’t think I do it correctly at all. As none of my friends are into the beauty “thing”, I have never really talked about it.
What brand do you use?
Hmm….. again I dont know if I am exfoliating properly lol so it would be St Ives.
What moisturizer do you use?
Clearasil, lol – as I have oily skin I try not to use too much.
Do you have freckles?
I have them over my tops of my cheeks – Scottish heritage you see.
Do you use eye cream?
The only eye cream that I have ever use and it’s only at work is under eye cooler, I think the brand is Simple and its a roll on. Beautiful to wake up around your eyes
Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
Not acne, just because of PCOS a lot of ingrown hair 😦
Did you ever have to use Pro-active?
you whatty what?
What foundation do you use?
I use a mix from Maybelline to Rimmel, but new products I never really stick to one though. Also depends how pale I am feeling.
How about concealer?
Again changes on my mood.
Do you know your undertone colour?
GOD yes, ELF product is great im forever using the pallet.
What do you think of fake eyelashes?
I used to have a large collection when I was at Uni, I wish I was at a work which the girls loved their fake eye lashes otherwise I would wear them
Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
Yep 😦 never happens.
What brand of mascara do you use?
Maybelline – Colossal Cats Eyes.
Sephora or MAC?
Neither, never tried both as I think they’re too expensive.
Do you have a MAC Pro-card?
No idea what it is, not interested in expensive make up.
What makeup tools do you use in make-up application?
brushes, lots of brushes and my fingers.
Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?
Yes I use the ELF brand version
For the face?
Sleek brand version
What is your favourite eye shadow (colour or shade)?
I love the dark colours, but then nudes are good as well
Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?
I am in control, I am one with the eyeliner lol
What do you think of pigment eye shadows?
Hmmmmmmmm here nor there
Do you use mineral makeup?
to be honest not really.
What is your favourite lipstick?
Kate Moss 107 Matte
How about lip gloss?
I dont wear it.
What is your favourite blush to use?
I hardly wear blusher
Do you buy your makeup on ebay?
No never. For purchasing cosmetics, I don’t feel secure unless I see the real thing. I need to make a purchasing decision based on the swatches.
Do you like drugstore makeup?
I absolutely love drugstore makeup
Do you go to CCO’s? (Cosmetic company outlets)
No to be honest I’d never even heard of them before reading this tag.
Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
I would love to!!
Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?
If I am in a rush or in the dark haha
Name a makeup crime that you hate?
Foundation lines, please just blend it in.
Do you like colourful shades of makeup (lipstick, eye shadow) or neutral ones?
I prefer in your face.
Which celebrity always has great make up?
Different people, different days just try and be you.
If you could leave the house using just ONE make up item, what would you use?
Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?
I do it often so it doesnt bother me
Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
I dont car really but I would prefer to have it on, but I am often seen without it on because I prefer sleep
In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line?
I really do not have a favourite.
What do you think of Makeup?
A hobby, creativity, gives me something to take my mind off my loneliness and finally confidence.
All girls love some sort of product on their lips, whether it is lipstick, lip balm, butter or moisturising balm there is always something there to make our lips look more appealing and of course more kissable 😉
I know personally I have gone through so many shades, styles, brands and products in order to find the best one for me. I like to take good care of my lips and throughout this blog I won’t really be making any judgements of particular brands that I love it will be generalised apart from three that I need to tell you about:
This product is just the biz (god I can’t believe I said that), its so cheap and its very effective, plus in a really weird way it smells and tastes nice – hey you don’t want something on your lips to not taste nice (I like bonjella, but that’s another story!) It is roughly about the £3 mark as most ELF products are and mine has lasted a long time. Applying is very easy, nice and smooth on and then you get the ex-foliating particles over your lips which in turn smooths out your lips. It has a cocoa taste to it, but it’s not overpowering and I would definitely recommend to get those extra luscious lips for kissing that boy/girl.
I still to this day do not know how I came across this product, maybe going up and down the aisles of Superdrug thinking god I need a new lipstick but I have about 3 of these (in this shade). It did scare me first of all as it is purple (the shade is actually called – “Beauty UK Lipstick Snob 3” – what a name haha). It does have a matte feel to it which I love but it also has a slight shimmer, really smooth to go onto your lips and it stays for some time. As well as this it has a nice taste to the shade, not that overpowering cheap lipstick taste which you can get with some of the drug store brands and with this being priced at £3.49 it is a bargain. Don’t be afraid to go for a colour which you think will not suit you!
My final must have is my ultimate favourite lipstick. You will find out through this post that I am not really a fan of shiny things, it took me a while to even get used to shiny nails because I love the matte look. Thank god for Kate Moss and Rimmel and thank you for the shade 107. It is a beaut of a shade, it’s not too dark, it’s not too in your face and it just oozes sexy and gives you so much confidence. You may see this shade if you ever watch the gorgeous Zoella, she uses it within the Winter time. I loved using this in the Autumn and Winter time and it just gave me the confidence especially in this time when your skin is all pale and flaky (not really nice) to show off, you are you, you are here and you are pretty no matter what people say. It is great for day time and especially night time with a gorgeous black dress.
Anyway, the whole point of this blog was to talk about the different types of lip products that we all use, I may miss some out so I really do apologise but I am jut thinking off the top of my head so (remember I am not looking at the brand just the idea):
Lipstains – I really do not find these effective at all, I find them really weak – they do not last long enough, the design looks amazing along with the colours which are often shown on the packaging but when they do go on your lips I find that they are just a disappointment. It could be the products that I have used and it could be the fact that I have chosen a wrong batch but I just find them to be a waste of money. Just like a felt tip pen if they decide to be stubbed or the bristles come about it’s just ridiculous. Some of them have the moisturiser at the bottom of them to add that extra shine (or to bring out the colour) but I am just not a fan.
Lip Booms – I believe only certain brands do this type of lip product but quite similar to the double ended lip stain, this two includes two parts to make your lips look luscious. One end is the lipstick, usually the shiny kind in all different colours and then if you feel the need to glam up your lips even more there is the option to make your lips shimmer in the light. Often with the product of the lip stick on your lips is just enough for me, but with the added lip gloss sometimes it is beneficial but most of the time it just makes it a sticky mess or your lips look too full (you do not need the trout pout). Otherwise of course use one or the other and you are good to go!
Texturised Lips (including Glitter) – I was at the Ideal Home Show last year in London and I cannot believe how many girls and women I saw going around the centre with the glitter lips, like it was complete full on glitter fest – it had looked like they had just shoved there lips into a glitter bucket with no other make up on their face and decided (LOOK AT ME BOYS MY LIPS ARE RIGHT HERE!!) The first few that I saw I thought hey okay, they look alright then after a while of seeing red, green, blue and silver lips I did think I may want to add some tinsel around their necks. Not a fan. When I was younger the idea of glitter lipstick in the tubes which you can see on the right I probably loved, they came with a Barbie for example and it didn’t matter what colour that you chose you wanted to look special. I feel that these types of products are definitely for those stand out girls, just like the hundred and thousand inspired lips/nails, I can’t even do the nails so I cannot imagine doing the lips (great for a selfie, but imagine walking about the high street with your lips just literally dropping everywhere OR flies attacking you!)
Lip Gloss: The lip gloss, every girls go to – the shine, the effectiveness, the different colours, prices, the wands and the added extras. Each girl I am sure has their ultimate favourite, some glide on smooth, some are so sticky and thick its just unattractive, some are so light to the touch it feels like you’re wearing vaseline or lip balm and others are great just to accentuate your lips. Many lip glosses change their design over the years, there have been the additions of the light up ones (brilliant for nights out), the added mirror, the different varieties of wands, then different smells. I for one have many lipglosses and I am definitely the type who buys loads and never wears them! I cannot unfortunately find a lip gloss that I love the colour of so any recommendations would be brilliant!
Lip “crayon”: As you can tell I don’t know the actual name of this type of product but once you get the correct colour for you they are very effective. Different brands have a variety of depths and colours, unfortunately just like a packet of crisps haha the product is big in design but not a lot of the actual lip crayon. What do you think of them?
Lip Balms: I cannot tell you how many lip balms that I have had in my life, they are kinda like kirby grips in which they keep just going missing – do you have that as well? Anyway, lip balms come in all shapes and sizes with the new introduction of the fashionable Eos lip balms which are brilliant, small, beautiful and so cute to look at to the Smackers (flavoured as shown above – great from Primark by the way) or through to the simple lip balms such as Nivea and drugstore/supermarket own branded designs. They are amazing for the quick fix, the quick moisturising of the lips and of course if you see that person you like, add it to your lips whether slightly coloured or just wanting that extra shine they’re just brilliant.
Lip Fixers: Whether it is Carmex, Vaseline or Burts Bees that you use they are the best for those lips that need that extra care. Those lips which often get affected by the cold, dried out by the sun (you never know) or of course for the SPF in which you see above.
What lip products do you use the most? Which lip products do you dislike the most?
We have to look after our lips, many find them the most attractive part of our body, they are there for the gorgeous smile that you have, they are there for that first kiss, for all the kisses you have with a loved one and they are there for that beaut of a selfie you are thinking of doing. But for the love of god – STOP WITH THE POUT YOU ARE NOT A TROUT.
