My favourite mascara: Maybelline Colossal Volume Express – Cats Eyes review

Hello you beautiful people.

I hope that you’re all okay. I’ve been meaning to dedicate a whole post to this amazing product for so long, I don’t know why I haven’t done it sooner!

I have tried and tested various mascara over the years, different brands, brushes, high end, low priced and I always ¬†go back to the Maybelline Colossal Volume Express ‘Cat Eyes’.

This is my absolute favourite mascara.

Daily Essentials.

large (3)

I thought I would write about what make up and products I use on a daily basis (or when I can be bothered to wear make up, which at the moment is not that often), hopefully this interests you and if you are interested I also hope that you look into buying some of these products ūüôā –¬†first of all, I would like to apologise for my photos – damn sunshine going in! haha.¬†

These are my bare essentials that I need on a daily basis, my Nair Hair sensitive removal facial cream is a part of my daily life. As I have PCOS I am very wary of extra hair on my face, it can come across as darker than my blonde hair and I hate it! I am forever conscious of this and I found this cream for ¬£1 in poundland, I was surprised when I was buying the same stuff in Superdrug for ¬£5!! That leads me swiftly on to Superdrug, I believe that they are my ultimate favourite drug store, if Soap and Glory was sold here I wouldn’t shop anywhere else. Their facial cleansing wipes in Camomille are just delicious (and no I don’t eat them!) they are a gorgeous scent, make your face feel so fresh afterwards. The cotton wool is always on offer usually 2 for 1 or buy one get one free, which is always the best. Finally my last photo is me thinking, bugger how am I going to put all these in the photos haha!

Facially I use 4 products, I do have other ones that I use but these are my fall to items and the ones that I use the most. Deep Action products again are Superdrug, they have a lovely scent, they both leave your face feeling very smooth and refreshed and of course……. clean. St Ives deep pore cleansing is not only used in the shower when your pores are “open” but also afterwards, I love how although the cream is soft the beads allow for a rough texture to take away all of your dead skin. The last is the Clearasil Superfruit Refreshing Pads, wow these are cold when they go onto your face and it definitely awakens your skin, fresh fruity smell and takes away all of your lovely make up which you have spent ages putting on.

My skin is all over the place (all of the time, proper combination skin going on here!). I found the Look Beauty Skin Fix Kit in again Superdrug and to be honest I was amazed by the cute packaging. I have used it once or twice and it is my backup for getting some extra colour on my cheeks, it includes foundation, concealer and highlighter. Although the brush is not that brilliant it is effective in making sure your skin does look lovely. My favourite favourite concealer product is definitely without a doubt the ELF corrective concealer, the shades are yellow, blue, green and pink and each colour covers all your skin flaws. I am often finding myself using the green and blue to help conceal my beautifully red skin haha!! I highly recommend.

As many other bloggers love it, the Rimmel Stay ¬†Matte pressed powder is just ridiculously good, I have it in the Silky Beige and it just sets your face perfectly. It is not too overpowering, too dusty and it just allows for an oily face person like me to not be so shiny! My only concealer that I use apart from the ELF one shown in previous photo is ELF All Over Stick, it smells great, the coverage is brilliant it comes in all different shades. I for the life of me because my room is a state cannot find my favourite foundation –¬†Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid – which is the best, best for coverage, shade, smoothness etc etc. My second favourite is the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation, it is a bit shiny but I use it for those days I am not too keen on myself and finally the Mayebelline Dream Matte Mousse – delicious.

I really don’t often use blusher, I need to invest in watching more videos as to how to properly apply blusher for those extra chubby cheeks of mine! There are two that I have found B (vegan non animal testing product) – Glowing Shimmer Block Just Peachy and the Look Cheeky Trio. Although the Look product shows you how to do it all, I need someone to do it for me!!

First of all I highly apologise for the photos of this one, but you can clearly see how much I love the product on the left hand side – Elf Eyebrow Kit. Its just the best, its a cream and a powder which combines gives you amazing eyebrows – not to look like a HD brow tart but the still natural look. The second is the W7 Naked Nudes, I kept seeing everyone buy the NAKED Urban Decay and I thought 1. I for one cannot afford that, 2. I need to find a cheap alternative and this is what I found…… it’s perfect.

My favourite mascara of them all – Maybelline Colousal Cat’s Eyes – 1 coat and you’re done, its black, bold and effective! Elf Makeup Remover pen for when your little mistakes happy. Flirty Flick eyeliner pen by Look, is thick, bold and so easy to apply to your eyes and finally my favourite tweezers which I believe I got from Morrisons. The reason in which I have painted it red is because I have two of them, 1 is easier to use than the other and therefore I cant be bothered to keep finding the proper tweezer.

LIPSTICKS LIPSTICKS GET YOUR LIPSTICKS!!! My favourite make up product, 1 – Kate Moss – 107, 2, ELF Lip Exfoliator 3. ELF Moisturising Lipstick and finally Beauty UK lipstick…… there’s the swatch ūüôā enjoy.

Finally, my perfumes. Dare I say more than the collection that I have………… beautiful.

You have to treat yourself now and again….

large (2) large

So this weekend as I am on my own due to the parents being on holiday, I thought hey I am going to treat myself. Of course most of my blogs are about treating other people (friends, family and strangers) but sometimes you really do have to treat yourself – and that I did. I ended up going to Dunelm Mill which if you have never checked it out before then please do – click here!¬†I have been looking for a chest of drawers for a long time as I am often having my make up boxes all over the place and when I saw this I thought PERFECT (okay I felt bad for spending ¬£36 on it! *ashamed not ashamed*). I then thought hey I wonder what the readers of my blog may think of looking inside my drawers *dont be cheeky!*, so here it goes – ps if you’re not interested, thanks for joining and I’ll see in another post:

90’s girl memories

What I have learnt about myself during lockdown (2)

The 90’s appear lately to be a great era to have been a little girl. I was born in 1989 in the UK, so all of my childhood was throughout the 90’s so I can definitely state that I am a 90’s kid. If you were born 1995+ I do not classify you to be a 90’s kid as hardly any one remembers the first 5 years of your life. *sorry not sorry*

I’ve chosen a number of pictures which represent how I feel about the 90’s:

Mascara Top 5

I hardly ever not use mascara and as someone who loves make up and has far too much make up, I think it’s about time I reviewed some of my favourite mascara’s – so here we go!

Maybelline – Colossal Cat Eyes Mascara

This mascara is absolutely amazing, its so easy to put onto your eyelashes either for a just the one coat or to extenuate your eyes. It is the only mascara which has made my eyelashes so big, each time I wear this particular mascara many people ask if I am wearing false eyelashes. But nope, its just my eyelashes with this beauty of a product.

Price wise it is not too expensive and it is not too cheap either it’s just perfect. I really cannot flaw this product at all. Especially the name. Actually that’s the only downside, why does the product in my eyes have a giraffe pattern on the top and not a tiger or something like that to go with the cat theme. But seriously that is the only flaw, it lasts ages, it never clumps, it has never dried up on me and I will be forever buying this until they stop selling them.

Rimmel Volume Flash The MAX Mascara

If you want to have thick eyelashes which stand out without the falsies this is the perfect mascara for you, its thick, bold and easy to put on. It glides really well, you would only need 1 or 2 coats of this well depending on how much of a spider affect you wish to bestow on your eyes *please don’t go tarantula!*. I have had this particular mascara for a few years now and it is always my go to mascara for a night out as I cannot always afford falsies, its nice and girly, cheap and it’s always in the shops.

The only downside I feel is that because it is so thick sometimes it can become quite clumpy and gloopy in the wand, but as long as you take off the excess you should be absolutely fine. Perfect for a quick make up fix.

 Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara

I have noticed that already I am starting up a Rimmel collection but they do amazing mascaras, I have not bought this one in a while and as I was looking through my mascaras I remembered how amazing this product is. The wand is thin compared to the previous two and therefore it gets all the tiny little eyelashes as well. The packaging is nice and bright, definitely helps when you are trying to find it in your bag!! My lashes really gain a lot of length when putting on this product. You will need to put a number of layers on to get a full affect.

The downside of this product is that I forgot about it, its a product that yes you absolutely love at the time and then another one comes along. It is only until you are rummaging around and you spot this and remember why you fell in love with it.

Rimmel Scandal’Eyes Show Off Mascara

Yes another Rimmel product I hear you say, I would just like to clear this up now I have loads of mascaras but it is just the case that 3/5 of my favourites are Rimmel and I don’t care they are amazing. This product is just great, look how bright it is, it’s so girly and fun. The wand shocked me when I first opened it up, I was taken a back slightly by the little well…. knob at the end haha I dont know how else to describe it, nuzzle? What a weird word! Anyway that little… okay I cant call it a knob due to the next sentence hmm, lets stick with nuzzle, anyway that little nuzzle at the end is amazing for getting into the tight corners of your eyes and the little eyelashes (see why I couldn’t use knob, naughty!). Its clean, sharp and does get through to all the little layers.

The only downside I feel is that the product gets dry very quickly, it could be my mascara or just in general I am unsure but hey that’s what I have come across.

Benefit BADgal lash mascara

I have not had this particular product in years, but it sticks in my mind as one of the best mascaras I have had. I actually got this mascara free with a mobile phone years ago along with other Benefit products and it was the first time I came across their range and I have loved Benefit ever since. The wand is big, it’s one of the biggest that I have had and therefore it spreads the mascara over a wider range. Although it is isn’t one of the darkest mascaras you can buy on the market it pretty much does an amazing job for the colour that it is.

Again like Scandal Eyes, it didn’t take long before this product dried out which was a¬†disappointment¬† I haven’t actually bought another one since as I got distracted by¬†branching¬†out to other products but I think I will buy this product again.

What do you think?
