Welcome to the 30s club – what I got for my birthday

Happy New year!! How rude of me not to say happy New year, I hope that you either had a fun filled evening out dancing the night away, or like me you were slumped infront of the tv, drowning in pink gin!

The new year is always a bit weird for me, and I’m sure anyone born between mid December and mid January. You seem to have everything in the space of 2 weeks and it’s just a bit chaotic.

I was meant to be born on Christmas day, however I was slightly late (I was setting myself up for my traits later in life) and was born on the 5th Jan. The number 1 of the type was Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan with the classic “especially for you” – go on have a sing song. With this in mind, being 1989 the year I turned the beautiful age of 30.

A lot of my friends are already 30 and they do say it’s the best years of your life coming up, so I’m trying to see the positive side of it, instead of the impending doom of “you have literally not got your shit together”.

So the day arrives and I’m getting quite a few amazing messages from my friends and family. It’s so lovely to hear what people actually think of you, and they have taken the time to write out a message for you. Which is worth a lot in my eyes. The day itself, I wasn’t expecting much as my family we either do birthdays big or just small family affairs.

Day 14 blog challenge: what’s in your bag

Firstly I want to wish all of my readers the happiest of new years!! We did it!! We made it through 2016. I do hope that many of you now have a lovely stonking headache and enjoyed celebrating in style.

Now back to the actual blogging, you know when I said that this would be a 30 day challenge? You would think it should be completed within 30 days, let’s just say…. this should be finishing on Thursday haha slightly behind. So I am taking this challenge as I do with reading a book….I take my time.

Today’s blog challenge, is what is in my bag! So here we go: Continue reading “Day 14 blog challenge: what’s in your bag”

I love a bit of Nail Art #bbloggers

As you may be able to tell, I have not updated my blog in over a month. I kinda took a huge Christmas break from it, I had lots of things to write about but I kinda just did not want to do it. Yeah sorry about that! But, I thought hang on New Year, I used to LOVE blogging. It can be tough, but hey!

One of my ultimate favourite things to do is to paint my nails, I have previously done a post about this before >> have a look here << But over the christmas period, I believe that I changed my nails about 3/4 times a week. It got to the point people were asking what my nails looked like today at work.

I thought I would share them with you. Just like to let you know, I am not amazing at them, I am challenging myself more each time. πŸ™‚ IF you do wish to follow them, you will see them pop up on Instagram under different tags lol.

My first is this beautiful hyper shine of Ted Baker coral. One of my favourite colours there are, it’s so summer filled and its so shiny as well! I love having a different ring finger (you’ll see this throughout the post!). Having gold and pink together, along with the white contrasts amazing with the pink.

IMG_20141106_000645

Gold and pink seemed to have been a theme I went through. The Maybelline Colour Show is one of my favourite glitter nail varnishes, it stays on for days, has the most amazing shine. I used 3 different shades of pink offered by MUA. The middle finger is a gold shade.

IMG_20141110_000932These are my personal favourites. The nail varnish is actually from Poundland, in a deep red. I of course have included a matte finish to it and alongside this, I have used the glitter from the brilliant, seriously brilliant polish of Maybelline Colour Show in Rose Chic (seriously it’s the best thing ever!!)

IMG_20141114_013125Not one of my favourites, but it appears that a lot of people liked it on Instagram haha. Barry M in a brown/nude shade, matte finish alongside the rose chic gold in the chevron space.

IMG_20141117_012604I was so bored of the gloomy weather, that I thought I would sundeck out my nails. Full of pastel shades from many different nail varnishes. Always good to do this using your normal handwriting hand, until you have to do it on the other hand and it all goes tits up.

IMG_20141121_140008I kinda went a bit glitter mad…………………. not keen. Didnt last long, plus the ring finger really smudged here 😦

IMG_20141122_005229Barry M in lilac is my favourite go to nail polish. It never fails and it always brightens up my day when I put it on. Again I have used the lovely gold nail varnish, just to add some snazz to it all. hehe.

IMG_20141127_012825Another Poundland nailvarnish, it’s amazing how bright this is. I used a nail varnish techniques brush to add the black slashes onto the nails. Each nail as a contrasting blue/green alongside the black dots.

IMG_20141129_190300These are my mum’s nails haha! Simple Revlon matte red nails, very similar to the dark red ones before. She requested to be like those.

IMG_20141129_205548

White nail varnish, alongside Rimmel Pop Art that was on sale. Unfortunately the Rimmel polish, I had to apply about 4 times in order to get all of the dots on. I also added glitter as well.

IMG_20141130_003440

The black nail varnish is Poundland, literally needing 1 coat online. A gold chevron design with the Barry M lilac wedding ring finger πŸ™‚

IMG_20141206_175939I seem to love a bit of purple, and I thought I would try and contrast in designs and shades. I love the idea of the white dot at the top of the chevron gold design, just brings your eye towards the line.

IMG_20141208_175500Wayhey its Christmas time!! haha, no explanation here either hehe. Ho ho ho.

IMG_20141210_004440Buzz Buzz Buzz. The black dots link between the flower and the bee…. follow that line hehe.

IMG_20141212_010612I love this shade of nail varnish, there is no top coat on this and you can see how shiny this blue shade is. I have of course added glitter.

IMG_20141215_020824Yay back to my rose chic glitter nail varnish. I love pink and I am a girly girl. It’s a great feeling to look down and think yay I did this!

IMG_20141222_010942

I am really not keen on red πŸ™‚ But this is a glittery pinky/red, I do think that this lasted for a few hours. Again gold glitter.

IMG_20141225_235151I freaking LOVED how bright this design was, just like the blue sweep earlier. This is a bright pink polish from Primark, alongside the white varnish. I love my thumb on this one!

IMG_20141228_184351I maaaaaaaaaay or may not have been looking at wedding designs on Pinterest and this was an idea that I had. Matte white and gold nails ❀

I found the most amazing thing in TK Maxx, look at all of this and I got it for just over Β£20, therefore I thought I would try them out hehe. Here we go!:

IMG_20141229_204254

IMG_20141229_231712

I LOVE how wedding based this is. hehe. I love the idea of the added pearls on the thumb and wedding finger, the confetti within the nail varnish and it just looks like snow. So delicate.

IMG_20141231_003045I will be honest, I was trying out different things with this particular photo. They all came off within 15 minutes, as I thought it was too much. As you can see there are many different designs. Weirdly got quite a few likes on Instagram.

IMG_20141231_003306A dark orange and black shaded nail varnish. Made me want a Terrys Chocolate Orange though haha!!

IMG_20150106_005348New Year New Me. Matted multicoloured dots πŸ™‚

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetThese are my nails currently.

So there you go, all of my nails over the past 3 weeks. What do you think?

We’re not all nail artists, hi lazy ladies!

large (7)

Wouldn’t it be amazing to have the patience to do amazing nail art, I have so many nail varnishes I think my Mum believes I am slightly obsessed – if you haven’t seen my draw before it has expanded since said blog but this was my nail varnish draw…… oh hi by the way!:

IMG_20140216_183341

These are the nails that I am going to be talking about today, they are mine yay!! If you’re interested in how I did them, please carry on :

IMG_20140406_235245[1]

Around the Christmas time me and my Mum went to the Ideal Home show in London, if you haven’t been there I advise you go to as there is such a variation of beauty products that you may not even think of. I saw a product from a company called MoYou, and for this blog I have not been told to advertise them or whatever I just think you should look if you’re lazy like me – here’s their website! >>>>>> lazy nail people look here.Β Β Β I love their product so I thought I would show you step by step as to what happens πŸ™‚Β

First things first, the background of my photos are of my snazzy gorgeous pj bottoms haha! So I highly apologise.

20140406_233709

Here’s the first photo, okay at this stage I have chosen to show you what tools I am using and that is it – top right hand side is a base coat by the way – damn automatic editing! I am using a graphics cutting board which I have had since GCSE (sssh School nearly 10 years on dont know I still have it!) As you can see I have used this on a number of occasions. The reason as to why I have chosen something like this is; 1 I am not going to use it again, 2 – its a hard surface for what you need to do in the next stages. So here you can see a silver plate (your design plate), a pink plate (the scraper), the red dot (hmm… gonna call this the squidgy) and finally the nail varnishes – let’s carry on!!

20140406_23375420140407_000318

I have gone for my favourite design which is this zig zag aztec type design which I love, the reason it’s in black will be explained later (I promise!). As you can see each of the plates has a number of designs on them and each I have chosen in the past. Hey look at my snazzy pj bottoms πŸ˜‰ told you I wear snazzy PJs πŸ˜‰
20140406_233643This is my favourite bran of base coat, it can be found in Superdrug although I am not sure if you can get it in Boots. It’s really cheap and if you just want to leave it as a nail shiner its great for that as well. So apply this before you do anything, as you don’t want your nails staining now!

20140406_233550

I have chosen the Ted Baker colour which I got for my Birthday present, it’s a lovely pink shade and its great for a pick me up (especially as I have to go back to work tomorrow and I am dreading it!!)

20140406_233604

I have mentioned this nail varnish in the past, but I really cannot express enough how good a black coat colour this is. This is from Primark andΒ only comes out at Halloween!! So if you see it, buy it. I promise you. It only needs 1 coat, its as black as black and its just brilliant. This is my “top coat” which will go on top of the pink colour. Here’s the process:

20140406_233836

You have chosen your “top” coat and your design, so what you need to do is to apply a few layers to the chosen design – making sure that you cover all areas of the design. To clean this by the way and to make sure it’s lovely and fresh, do not use nail varnish remover with moisturiser as the stamp squidgy thing does not pick it up!

20140406_233850

With the scraper you will need to apply a little presser to the pad and scrape at a 45 degree angle – this is first tricky stage that I had to overcome but after a few practises you do get it perfect. As you can see there is your design in the black, as that’s on there its currently drying so ignore the pink thing and cleaning that up for now, you need to get that nail varnish on your chosen finger!

20140406_233908

This was my first attempt at this photo and you can clearly see that not all of the design was picked up, you need to give just the right amount of pressure to roll across the design with the stamp. The stamp also needs to be nice and dry, if its covered in nail varnish remover for example from a previous clean that of course will not pick up the design! Now for the hard bit! :

20140406_234839Applying is tricky you have to get it not only at the angle for your finger, you have to cover the whole finger, as you don’t want to keep applying different cut offs of the design it’s just not going to look great!! Seriously, its taken many attempts to get used to applying so please get frustrated lol.

As you can see, there is of course over lapse with the design, not all of the stamps are designed to fit everyone’s finger nails. I would suggest if you are going to use this type of product to have long nails. You can see that the design went off lovely onto my nail πŸ™‚ I usually have this finger covered in glitter so its nice to have a change!! All the excess around your nail you can simply when its all dry and a top coat applied just wipe away using a cotton bud // Q tip.

20140406_233615

Apply a top coat, my favourite is Look Beauty’s Nail Pop – this top coat can also have a shimmer to it as well which I love. Sneaky one’s on here will notice that I took this photo before the design was added πŸ˜›

IMG_20140406_235245

Here is the final design…….. what do you think πŸ™‚

border

These are other pallets which I chose on the day as well :

20140407_000507

20140407_000428

20140407_000540

20140407_000211

So we are all not nail varnish experts, I do have nail art pens but I am completely and utterly useless at them, would you opt for something like this? PS they say that you HAVE to buy their product (nail varnishes) otherwise they wont work, well you have clearly seen on this…… thats a bit of a porkie pie.
